The Cradle of Education beside Golden Lion Lake

30 years ago, Golden Lion Lake was a deserted place full of farms and swamps. However, wherever there are people, there is the need for education to spread. With this belief, in 1979 when the old tribe was turned into a new Dingjin community, Kaohsiung Municipal Shi-Hu Elementary School was thus established for the education and cultivation of persons around Golden Lion Lake area.

With the changing times and the efforts of seven principals, the school has gradually grown, and now the total measurement of the school area is 4.43 hectares, with almost three thousand students and 171 faculty members. “Comprehensive community development” is always the shared belief of teachers, students, parents as well as the local people, and we have been devoting ourselves to the fields of environmental planning, sports, humanism, information technology, and natural science. For 30 years, the outstanding performance of the school has brought glory for the community.

In the early years, the school zealously developed the field of sports, and from the softball game in the 1980s to the table tennis, badminton, swimming and other sport contests in the 2000s, Golden Lion Lake has always reached the highest levels in Kaohsiung City. During the Chinese Language Movement in the 1990s, Golden Lion Lake was also foremost in the city regardless of its disadvantages of location and the lack of cultural cultivation. The school’s publications have always been the characteristic of Shi-HuElementary School, and for many years it has published abundant rural cultural teaching materials and the “Children of Kaohsiung City” for the Education Bureau of Kaohsiung City. During the 1990s, the school also zealously supported and participated in the promotion of free education and small classes. For the Grade 1-9 Curriculum Policy in the 2000s, the school, parents, and community are working together on enhancing the foundation of curriculum and teaching. The outstanding performance of the school thus won the Instructional Excellence Award for the school in 2006, which is the highest glory in the thirty-year-history of Golden Lion Lake. 

With such effort and dedication, the teaching team of the school will always devote its greatest efforts to the field of education, to educate more future talents for every discipline.
